Key Role Details
Full-time new hires for this role will start as a cohort in a rotational program in August 2026
This role is a full-time associate position within an 18-month rotational program, designed as a career accelerator to foster the next generation of leading cyber talent
Participation in the program requires that you are located in the continental United States with in-person attendance at your assigned location, in accordance with Capital One’s
Basic Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an expectation that you will complete your most recent full-time degree program by August 2026 or earlier
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher in a technical and/or quantitative discipline, including computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, information assurance, information systems, information technology, or mathematics
Understanding of cyber security concepts such as: operating systems analysis (MS Windows/MacOS) and network forensics (Kali Linux)
Knowledge of the basics of network security and protocols (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, perimeter protection)
Strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to explore multiple domains before specializing
Knowledge of cyber security principles, networking, operating systems, and security concepts
Coursework in IT fundamentals, cloud security, cryptography, network security, and/or data security
Knowledge of industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks (NIST Cybersecurity Framework, MITRE ATT&CK)
Hands-on experience or coursework in digital forensics (Kali Linux), malware analysis, or incident response
Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and conceptual skills
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Basic programming skills or experience in one or more of the following areas: Java, Python, C#, C/C++, JSON, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripts)
As a Cyber Security Associate within our Cyber Security Development Program, you’ll dive into a wide range of real-world challenges across cloud infrastructure, networks, platforms, and application security. Whether you are on the front-lines in defending systems against evolving threats, assessing network security configurations, or monitoring for intrusions, your work will have a direct impact on securing our digital environment. You’ll play a critical role in evaluating cyber risks, and may support compliance initiatives, or shape security policies that govern enterprise-wide protection. You may conduct penetration tests, assess vulnerabilities, or design defenses to harden our systems. You may assess and analyze cyber data to understand weaknesses in our defenses and opportunities to the security posture of our environment. You may evaluate risks, support compliance initiatives (NIST, ISOI), and contribute to security policy development. Or you might be working to manage and maintain the upkeep of a computer network within Capital One. Our Cyber associates collaborate closely with associates in Cyber, Technology, the lines of business, and risk management offices. You'll have the freedom to explore different roles, teams, and technologies while zeroing in on the cyber career that's right for you. McLean, VA: $135,000 - $135,000 for Associate, Cyber Technical Plano, TX: $123,000 - $123,000 for Associate, Cyber TechnicalThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.. Eligibility varies based on full or part-time status, exempt or non-exempt status, and management level.
