Key job responsibilities
- Facilitate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) as a framework and decision logic to define the testing depth, resources, budget, and SLAs required to deliver the right product to our customers
- Plan and supervise product benchmark testing for establishing product specifications and claims
- Develop usability testing plan and validate the corrective actions effectiveness
- Drive the implementation and accuracy of Quality Metric Trend Detection and implement preventive measures in upstream product development activities
- Continuously refine test methods and protocols with 3rd party testing agencies
- Monitor performance of 3rd party testing agencies
- Provide full visibility to internal stakeholders
- Develop best-in-class processes and systems, and drive continual improvement
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or material science
- Seven years+ experience in product design, quality assurance, manufacturing or testing in the manufacturing sector
- Strong knowledge of product design, defect analysis and product development processes in diverse industries including furniture, outdoor, lawn and garden, sports, Pets, home/kitchen non-electrics, and/or home/kitchen electrics appliance.
- Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Process and data driven oriented
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done
- Must be able to use Word, Excel, and other common desktop software applications. Must also be comfortable learning web applications and proprietary software
- Postgraduate or PhD degree in Engineering or Science discipline
- Demonstrated ability to uncover systemic issues and drive failure analysis to root cause swiftly and accurately
- Provide product technical insight during product planning and product development
- Hands on experience with Design Failure Mode Effective Analysis (D-FMEA), Process Failure Mode Effective Analysis (P-FMEA), Design of experience (DoE)
- Excellent business judgment, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
- Previous experience in retail consumer space for general, furniture, Textiles, home/kitchen non-electric, and/or electrics home/kitchen
- Creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
- Key competencies: A-Z process ownership; deals well with ambiguity, functions well and can clearly define processes in loosely structured situations; comfortable with following up on actions from others and closing the loop
- Hands-on experience in data analysis or Generative AI
