Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering/Technology, Textile Science, Textile Design, Industrial Engineering/Design, Material Science or related field.

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum5 yearsrelevant work experience in lieu of Master’s degree; 3 years + Master’s degree.

  • Requires knowledge and hands-on experience in own discipline; Familiarity with the state-of-the-art technologies in textile engineering and manufacturing, yarns, and common post-production techniques, such as dyeing and finishing

  • Creative thinker with experience in presenting and pitching new ideas.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work under tight timelines and with limited information

  • Curious approach with a “never stop learning” mindset

  • Strong interpersonal effectiveness, project management and data-based decision making (i.e. statistical methods) track record.

  • Ability to work with a moderate level of guidance and direction and effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely manner.

  • Ability to make decisions within guidelines and policies that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.

  • Self-motivated and driven to exceed expectations.

  • Strong team orientation and ability to collaborate

  • Experience in the capture of intellectual property as patents for materials, products and/or processes.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Materials Data Innovator who is experienced in the identification, evaluation and manufacture of innovative, advanced materials, you will be responsible for driving programs and projects leading to the identification and assessment of innovative materials which, when taken to scale, can be used successfully at Nike.


Textile Engineering Expertise:

  • Interpreting performance factors into an engineered textile structure.

  • Model and engineer multiple structures and realize the overall desired system of performance.

  • Fabric creation methods and technologies such as knitting, weaving or non-woven.

  • Technology modification to generate unique structures.

  • Yarn properties and their effect on resulting textile structures.

  • Inform prototype creation on lab-scale / pilot machines.

  • Textile test methods and performance criteria. (Consumer products / our field preferred)

  • Work with material laboratories and companies that can provide testing solutions in this space

  • Innovate large scale commercial textile manufacture and the subsequent post-production processes.
