As a Data Center Technician at Google, you would have the opportunity to join a team of tech professionals solving challenging problems through the operation of hardware. As part of the role, you would be responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining technical hardware operations within Google’s data centers. You would be a key player in identifying and resolving issues with hardware, while ensuring compliance with established standards and functionality.
The role entails performing activities such as system administration, troubleshooting hardware and software; keeping up-to-date with the latest updates, and communicating technical information with stakeholders. As part of the daily operations, you would perform hardware maintenance tasks, including diagnosing and repairing hardware, replacing defective components, and performing system backups, depending on the size of the facility.
You would also be tasked with staying up to date with current industry trends and advise on best practices. This would require knowledge in computer engineering and operation, system engineering, hardware repair and more. Additionally, you may need to become certified in advanced data center technologies such as Cloud Computing, in order to maintain certification and ensure that Google’s data centers stay at the forefront of industry standards.
